A legal expert, Liborous Oshoma, has raised concerns over the current state of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) following a recent Supreme Court ruling affecting the party’s internal crisis.
Speaking during an interview on News Central TV, Oshoma stated that the court’s decision to cancel the party’s Ibadan convention and reverse the suspension of a key party figure has created a leadership vacuum within the PDP. This situation has left the party without a clear direction, as it has been asked to return to how things were before its March convention in Abuja.
He explained that this confusion could seriously affect the party’s ability to organize itself ahead of the 2027 general elections. Without properly recognized leadership, the PDP may struggle to meet important deadlines set by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), including the process of selecting and presenting candidates.
Oshoma suggested that the party’s Board of Trustees should quickly step in to provide temporary leadership and restore order. This, he said, would allow the party to organize a new convention where credible leaders can be elected.
