Tinubu Said He Appointed Amupitan Because He’s Not In Any Party. Nigerians Proved Him Wrong-Onwubiko

Emmanuel Onwubiko of Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria has addressed concerns surrounding the president’s justification for appointing Amupitan as the INEC Chairman.

According to him, the president stated that the choice was based on Amupitan’s lack of affiliation with any political party and his absence of political positioning.

However, Onwubiko pointed out that many Nigerians have challenged this claim. He noted that public reactions indicate a lack of confidence in the president’s explanation.

He further emphasized the broader issue of trust in political leadership. Onwubiko explained that politicians are often viewed with skepticism, making it difficult for their statements to be accepted without doubt.

In his words, “The president said the reason why he appointed Amupitan is because Amupitan is not connected to any political party. He doesn’t have a position. But Nigerians have proven the president wrong. Of course, the president is a politician. I’m not trying to excuse him. Nigerian politicians cannot be trusted.
