Dino Melaye, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has expressed concern over the loss of senior military officers in the fight against insurgency, saying the deaths of two Brigadier Generals in the last three years are troubling.
In a video shared by News Central TV, Melaye said the slain officers were not just senior military personnel but commanding officers responsible for leading their formations, adding that the development raises serious questions about security management.
In Melaye’s words: “In the last three years, we have lost two Brigadier Generals to Boko Haram. This is embarrassing, and I begin to ask myself: they aren’t just Brigadier Generals, they are commanding officers of their garrisons. And I ask myself, if this happened in America, will Trump be comfortable in the White House?”
The ADC chieftain further stated that national security remains one of the most important responsibilities of government, adding that sustained efforts are required to address threats posed by insurgent groups.
