Peter Obi Should’ve Remained In The Party So They Could See How To Present Viable Opposition- Jide Ologun

In a recent interview shared by Arise News, legal practitioner and national development advocate, Jide Ologun, weighed in on the ongoing political realignments and internal divisions within opposition parties in Nigeria.

Speaking during the programme, Ologun emphasized the need for unity and strategic coordination among opposition figures ahead of future elections. He noted that the frequent defections and disagreements among party leaders continue to weaken their collective strength, making it difficult to present a formidable challenge to the ruling party.

According to him, opposition politics thrives on cohesion, discipline, and a shared vision, qualities he believes are currently lacking among key actors. He particularly referenced the situation surrounding Peter Obi, stressing that his departure from his former political platform contributed to the fragmentation of opposition forces.

“Peter Obi should have remained in the party so they could see how to present a viable opposition,” Ologun stated.

He explained that staying within a single platform would have allowed stakeholders to resolve internal differences and build a stronger, united front capable of mobilizing voters effectively.

Ologun further warned that without deliberate efforts to consolidate, opposition parties risk losing relevance in Nigeria’s political landscape.
