Lawyer, politician, and public affairs analyst Kenneth Okonkwo has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of deliberately fueling internal crises within opposition parties, particularly the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Okonkwo made the remarks during an interview on SYMFONI TV, where he spoke on the persistent instability within opposition ranks and alleged external interference from the ruling party. According to him, the APC has developed a pattern of weakening rival parties by exploiting internal divisions and co-opting influential figures.
Providing a specific example, Okonkwo pointed to the role of Nyesom Wike, who currently serves as a minister under the APC-led federal government. He claimed that Wike’s appointment has contributed significantly to the turmoil within the PDP.
“They did it in PDP. They appointed Wike as Minister and Wike started working for them. Wike doesn’t hide it,” Okonkwo stated during the interview.
The former Labour Party presidential campaign spokesperson argued that such political strategies are not accidental but part of a broader plan to destabilize opposition parties ahead of future elections. He suggested that by empowering key opposition figures within its own administration, the APC is able to indirectly influence decision-making and create factions within rival parties.
Okonkwo further warned that if opposition parties fail to recognize and address these tactics, they may continue to struggle with unity and effectiveness.
