United States President, Donald Trump has accused the leadership of Iran of threatening to kill citizens who participate in protests against the government.
Trump made the claim while speaking to journalists during an interview at the White House, where he discussed the internal political situation in Iran amid heightened tensions between the two countries.
During the exchange, the US president said many Iranians who oppose their government are unable to openly protest because authorities have warned of severe consequences for demonstrators.
“They put out a notice two days ago that they’re going to shoot and kill any protester,” Trump said.
According to him, the warning has created fear among citizens who might otherwise take to the streets to challenge the country’s leadership.
Trump said the Iranian government had allegedly informed residents that anyone involved in protests would face deadly force from security forces.
He also claimed that protesters in the country are largely unarmed, making them vulnerable if confronted by armed authorities.
“The protesters have no guns,” Trump said, explaining why he believes many citizens are reluctant to demonstrate publicly despite dissatisfaction with the government.
The US president further alleged that thousands of people had previously been killed during protests in Iran, although he did not provide independent evidence for the figures cited during the interview.
Trump described the Iranian leadership as harsh and intolerant of dissent, claiming such actions have suppressed public demonstrations.
His comments came as the United States continues to exchange accusations with Tehran over security issues, military operations and political influence in the Middle East.
During the interview, Trump also criticized reports circulating online that he claimed were fabricated using artificial intelligence, alleging that some images and videos showing large public support for Iranian authorities were not genuine.
According to him, the situation in Iran remains tense as many citizens are dissatisfied with the country’s leadership but fear violent repercussions if they protest.
The US president said the threat of lethal force against demonstrators explains why large-scale protests have not recently occurred despite growing political pressure on the government…..See More
