Iran’s New Superme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei Injured In Air Strike

According to a report by The Punch on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, the questions regarding the location of Iran’s newly appointed Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, have finally been answered.

On Wednesday, government adviser and son of the Iranian President, Yousef Pezeshkian, assured that the 56-year-old leader is “safe and well” even though he has injuries.

Mojtaba came into power last weekend after the passing of his father, Ali Khamenei, who died in a large US-Israeli airstrike on February 28.

Since being appointed by the Assembly of Experts, Mojtaba has not made any public appearances, which has led to widespread speculation regarding his health.

Reports suggest that the new leader was at the scene of the initial attack that resulted in the deaths of his father, mother, and wife.

While state television referred to him as a “wounded veteran,” the New York Times has indicated he experienced serious leg injuries.

He is believed to be alert and healing in a high-security bunker with closely monitored communication to prevent any further assassination attempts.

This change in leadership occurs during a tumultuous period for Tehran. Although billboards throughout the capital depict Mojtaba symbolically accepting the national flag, underground opposition has expressed their discontent with chants of “Death to Mojtaba” reported in various neighborhoods.

International responses are still strained. While Russian President Vladimir Putin has offered “steadfast support,” US President Donald Trump has issued a firm warning, stating that the new leadership would be “unacceptable” without the backing of the US.

For now, experts anticipate that Mojtaba will stay in hiding, assigning day-to-day governance and military strategies to figures such as Ali Larijani and Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf while the conflict continues…..See More
