The Claim That Christians Were Murdered By Muslims In Nigeria In The Last 1year Is False —FFK Reacts

Former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode has strongly rejected claims attributed to U.S. television host Bill Maher and digital platform Radio Genoa alleging that 500,000 Christians were killed by Muslims in Nigeria in the past year.

In a statement shared on X on Sunday, September 28, 2025, the former minister described the allegations as false and part of a broader disinformation campaign aimed at creating religious divisions and tarnishing Nigeria’s image globally. He linked the narrative to backlash against Nigeria’s stance on the Gaza conflict at the recent United Nations General Assembly, where senior Nigerian officials, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, Foreign Affairs Minister Yusuf Tuggar and Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, made remarks critical of events in Gaza.

Fani-Kayode alleged that some international media outlets and their sponsors were attempting to portray Nigeria as hostile to Christians, thereby justifying external pressure and sanctions. He maintained that Nigeria is neither experiencing a religious war nor a genocide, but rather a violent insurgency affecting both Muslims and Christians across the country.

According to the former minister, Nigerian security agencies are actively combating terrorist groups, arresting their leaders, and countering attacks against civilians of all faiths.
