Renowned author and public affairs commentator Richard Akinnola has given a detailed account of the execution of Bartholomew Owoh during General Muhammadu Buhari’s military regime.

Speaking on the Edmund Obilo Show, Akinnola explained that the execution was particularly brutal and chaotic. He said that when Owoh was first shot, the commander believed he was still alive because Owoh’s head kept moving. The movement, he clarified, was caused by the force of the bullets rather than any sign of life.

Akinnola further described how the soldiers carried out the remainder of the execution. After the initial round, the commander ordered all the soldiers to fire directly at Owoh. The violence of the shooting reportedly overwhelmed those present, including a female journalist, Remi Odukoya, who collapsed at the scene.

The account highlights the extreme measures and intensity of military executions during that era, illustrating the climate of fear and strict enforcement under Buhari’s government.
