2027: Tinubu Is Mortally Afraid Of My Popularity With Grassroots But We’re Not Paying A Dime–Sowore

According to report by Daily Post on Thursday, July 16, 2026, African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has alleged that President Bola Tinubu is uneasy about his growing popularity among ordinary Nigerians as the 2027 general election approaches.

Sowore made the statement while addressing journalists outside the Federal High Court in Abuja after a court session involving a lawsuit over comments he made about the president on his social media platforms.

The case stems from posts published on Sowore’s X account and Facebook page, which allegedly contained defamatory statements about President Tinubu. During the hearing, the presiding judge reportedly cautioned that Sowore’s defence could be closed if he failed to continue presenting his case, a development that drew attention from supporters and other observers present in court.

Speaking after the proceedings, the former presidential candidate argued that the legal action against him was politically motivated and linked to his increasing acceptance among grassroots Nigerians. He maintained that many citizens are becoming dissatisfied with the country’s current situation and are looking for alternative leadership capable of addressing national challenges.

Sowore further stated that his political movement has continued to attract supporters without relying on financial inducements or the distribution of gifts, which he described as common campaign tactics in Nigerian politics. According to him, the growing support for his movement is driven by people who believe in its message and vision rather than material incentives.

He said, “But we know the big deal. The big deal is that there is an election that is coming. Tinubu is mortally, mortally afraid of my popularity with the grassroots. But we are not paying a dime. We are not distributing bread. No soap, no rice, not even bitter cola, no tom-tom, no kuli-kulli or akara…See_More
