2027: “If you are campaigning to win elections, you have to go out and meet with the people–Uba Sani

According to a report by Vanguard on Monday, October 26, 2026, Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has expressed confidence in the All Progressives Congress (APC), insisting that the party would regard its performance as disappointing if any opposition candidate receives 25 per cent of the votes in the state during the 2027 general elections.

Sani said the APC expected Kaduna to deliver a significant share of votes for President Bola Tinubu, citing the Federal Government’s projects and interventions in the state as reasons residents should support the president’s re-election campaign.

The governor made the remarks during an interview with TVC on Sunday, while discussing the ruling party’s preparations for the forthcoming elections and its expectations in Kaduna. He argued that the administration’s achievements over the past three and a half years should influence voters’ decisions at the polls.

According to Sani, the Federal Government’s programmes and development initiatives had strengthened the APC’s position in the state. He maintained that residents should consider these interventions when deciding which candidates to support in 2027.

The governor also criticised opposition parties for what he described as their excessive reliance on social media to attack the ruling party instead of engaging directly with voters. He argued that political parties seeking electoral success must explain their policies, present their programmes and interact with residents.

Sani specifically mentioned the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC), expressing dissatisfaction with their approach to political campaigning. He said he had not observed the level of grassroots engagement he believed was necessary to attract voters and build electoral support.

In contrast, the Kaduna governor referred to the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) as an example of a party engaging residents through town hall meetings. He suggested that such activities provided candidates with opportunities to explain their proposals and address issues affecting communities.

Emphasising the importance of direct communication, Sani said political campaigns should extend beyond online platforms and involve face-to-face discussions with the electorate. He maintained that rallies, town hall meetings and other grassroots activities remained important tools for reaching voters.

Speaking during the TVC interview, the governor stated, “If you are campaigning to win elections, you have to go out and meet with the people.”

Sani’s comments indicate that the APC intends to make the Tinubu administration’s projects and interventions a central part of its campaign strategy in Kaduna. He expressed optimism that the government’s record would help the party secure substantial support in the state during the 2027 general elections.
