According to a report by Punch Newspapers on February 5, 2026, veteran Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has issued a public apology to her colleague, Mercy Johnson, over their past disagreements on social media.
A few weeks ago, Okorie was arrested by the Nigerian Police Force Cybercrime Centre following derogatory comments she made about Mercy Johnson online. She was later released from the Suleja Correctional Centre in Niger State.
The actress expressed regret over her previous remarks, admitting that they may not have gone down well with Mercy Johnson. Angela Okorie admitted to listening to gossips within the industry, which triggered her emotions and led to the statements she made online.
Going forward, she vowed to ignore side talks and focus mainly on business-related matters that would be more beneficial to her.
She said: “While we were growing in the industry, some people come and tell me that Mercy said something and also tell Mercy that Angela said something. There has been issues, chaos, loggerheads, and at this age, I don’t think this is what I want. The only thing I want now is business, I am no longer listening to those cheap gossips.
“I just want to apologize to you, if it is my words that I have written anytime your name pops out on social media, I am deeply sorry. You are not a witch, you are not what people are calling you. This is just to say I am sorry.
