A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dan Ulasi, has said that defeating President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 election will not be easy, describing him as a highly strategic and experienced politician.
Speaking during an interview on Arise TV, Ulasi explained that political strategy alone does not always translate into performance, but noted that Tinubu has shown both resilience and strong political skills over the years. He recalled how past political efforts once aimed to dominate the South West region but still failed to fully take control of Lagos, highlighting how difficult it can be to unseat strong political figures.
Ulasi stressed that Tinubu is not someone who can be removed through casual discussions or simple planning. According to him, anyone hoping to challenge the president must carefully think through their strategy and be prepared for a tough contest.
He pointed to Tinubu’s political journey as evidence of his strength, noting that he served as governor for eight years, remained influential during former President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, and later returned to win the presidency. Ulasi added that even when it seemed like Tinubu might not get support from key figures, he was still able to gather backing from northern governors and secure victory.
He concluded that the real debate about Tinubu’s leadership would likely center on his performance, which will become a major issue during the next election campaign.
