According to an interview with Independent Newspaper on Friday, October 3, 2025, Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Adviser on Media to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, has dismissed allegations made by activist Omoyele Sowore regarding the minister’s supposed ownership of properties abroad.
Olayinka said Sowore had been circulating misleading claims about Wike, particularly concerning a house in Florida, USA. He stressed that the minister had already clarified the matter on national television and never denied the existence of the properties, but rather explained their true ownership.
“The man simply said the property belonged to his wife’s parents. The parents of his wife are Americans. So, by virtue of that, the wife is a citizen of America. And Wike’s children are also citizens of America,” Olayinka explained.
The media aide argued that Sowore’s accusations were politically motivated, designed to distract the public and tarnish Wike’s image. He insisted that there was no secrecy surrounding the properties, as the minister had openly stated their connection to his wife’s family.
