Wike’s ‘Two-Legged’ Political Strategy Raises Eyebrows in the Presidency — Akande Speaks Out

In a recent Video Shared on ChannelsTelevision, former Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has once again become the center of political discussions; Laolu Akande, a respected political commentator and former presidential aide, has weighed in on the situation, highlighting the complications arising from Wike’s current political posture.

Akande explained that while it is increasingly clear that Wike is supporting President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the federal level, his continued ties to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) create an unusual and delicate scenario; According to him, Wike’s “one leg in PDP, one leg in APC” approach generates worry, concern, and doubt, not just among Nigerians, but even within the Presidential Villa itself.

“This dual alignment is highly unconventional in Nigerian politics, especially for a figure of Wike’s stature. It raises questions about his long-term intentions and political strategy,” Akande stated; He added that Wike’s divided loyalties could complicate decision-making and strategy within both the federal government and his home party.

However, such a strategy carries risks, including the erosion of trust among key stakeholders and the creation of suspicion in both the PDP and APC camps.

Akande further noted that as Nigeria heads toward another phase of political realignments and critical national decisions, clarity in political allegiance may soon be demanded; “It is increasingly difficult to maintain credibility and influence when one is perceived as straddling two opposing political forces,” he added.
