Lere Olayinka, the Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication and Social Media to former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike, has reacted to a meeting between activist Omoyele Sowore and former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan. Taking to his official X handle by Lere Olayinka on Friday, October 10, 2025, Olayinka commented after Sowore announced that he had met Jonathan in Abuja to discuss the continued detention of IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu.
In his post shared by Omoyele Sowore, Sowore said Jonathan agreed that Kanu’s case needed to be addressed urgently and fairly, thanking the former president for acknowledging the importance of justice and national unity. The meeting has since drawn attention across social media, with many expressing mixed reactions.
Responding to the development, Olayinka accused Sowore of hypocrisy, recalling that in 2014, the activist had harshly criticized Jonathan’s administration. He pointed out that it was ironic for Sowore to now visit the same leader he once attacked, suggesting that the activist’s recent actions reveal inconsistency in his political stance and advocacy.
