In a recent YouTube video, Apostle Johnson Suleman, Founder and Senior Pastor of Omega Fire Ministries International, reflected on a controversial period in his early ministry. He candidly shared that during this time, his grief and lack of guidance led him to promote doctrines that contradicted fundamental spiritual truths.
In a sermon, he explained that the messages he embraced were influenced by his emotional loss and spiritual fragility following the passing of his spiritual father. “It was like a consolation,” Suleman remarked. “So I was preaching that message.”
He acknowledged that his teachings at the time were extreme interpretations of grace that undermined essential Christian doctrines. “We were telling people clearly that there’s nothing like heaven,” he admitted, asserting that they claimed, “This is the heaven.”
Suleman further stated that he and others dismissed the concept of spiritual warfare, insisting that believers were already elevated spiritually. “We said we are already seated in heavenly places,” he said. “We don’t cast out demons. They are under us.”
He elaborated that under this teaching, the existence of witchcraft and demonic influences was entirely rejected. “They don’t exist. Witchcraft doesn’t exist,” he claimed. “We said all kinds of things.”
Reflecting on the past, Suleman characterized these doctrines as hazardous, pointing out that they left believers unaware and unprepared for spiritual responsibilities. While highlighting the finished work of Christ, he noted that the teachings did not equip believers to face real spiritual challenges.
He mentioned that the lack of spiritual role models, like his biological father and Archbishop Benson Idahosa, left him without direction during this challenging time. “There was nobody really to guide us,” he recalled, adding that his grief made the message appealing.
Suleman cautioned that ignoring spiritual truths leaves believers vulnerable to unseen attacks and deception. He emphasized that while Christians are redeemed and positioned in Christ, they must recognize the reality of spiritual warfare. “Grace does not cancel responsibility,” he asserted, encouraging believers to combine faith with discernment.
