We Thought It Was An Air Crash” – Sokoto Residents Recount United States’ Airstrike

Residents of Jabo town in Tambuwal Local Government Area of Sokoto State have shared experiences following a United States airstrike that occurred late on Friday night, causing fear and confusion across the community.

According to eyewitnesses, many people initially believed that an aircraft had crashed after hearing a loud explosion followed by flames lighting up the sky. Some residents said their houses shook violently, while others ran out in panic, unsure of what was happening.

Speaking to reporters, a resident explained that the sudden blast came without warning. He said; “We heard a very loud sound, like something falling from the sky. At first, we thought it was a plane crash because the fire was huge and the ground shook.”

Another resident added that people rushed outside in fear, while some families hid indoors.”

Later reports confirmed that the explosion was linked to a United States airstrike targeting suspected terrorist hideouts in the area. Security sources explained that the operation was part of ongoing efforts to weaken terrorist groups believed to be operating around the region.

After the incident, residents of nearby communities were seen visiting the area to see the aftermath. Some took pictures and videos of the remains of destroyed structures and scattered debris, which later surfaced online.
