According to a report by Arise TV on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, representing Abia South Senatorial District in the 10th National Assembly, has formally resigned from the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) and declared his full membership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Abaribe made the announcement at the ADC declaration event held in Enugu State, where political leaders and supporters gathered following the movement of former Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Gregory Obi, to the ADC.
Addressing the audience, the senator revealed that the occasion marked a personal political milestone, beginning with a symbolic gesture tied to his new political alignment. “The cap with our Logo of the party, I’m going to wear this Cap for the first time,” Abaribe said.
He then formally announced his departure from APGA, a party he has been associated with for several years. “Let me also announce that this morning, I resigned from the All Progressive Grand Alliance,” he stated. Confirming his new political status, Abaribe declared his full commitment to the ADC. “So as of now, I am fully in ADC,” he said.
The lawmaker linked his decision directly to his association with Peter Obi, whom he described as his leader. “Following my brother, leader, Mr. Peter Obi, I wish all of us well,” Abaribe said. Expressing confidence in the new political movement, he added, “And I know that we’re going to get there.”
Abaribe recalled a recent media engagement where he was questioned about the prospects of political change in Nigeria and his response at the time. “When I was giving my last interview, they were asking me how do you think it will happen?” he said.
According to him, his answer was rooted in a cultural expression familiar to the Igbo people. “I told them Mboru. Every Igbo man knows what Mboru means,” Abaribe stated.
He emphasized the significance of the moment, declaring a collective resolve. “Now it’s Mboru. The time has come,” he said. Abaribe further announced what he described as a broader political realignment. “The whole of us are going into ADC,” he declared.
In strong language, the senator criticized the ruling party, blaming it for Nigeria’s current challenges. “And we shall remove the cancer that has held Nigeria down since 2015,” Abaribe said. He continued, “We will remove that party that promised change but brought death and destruction to Nigeria.”
Concluding his address, Abaribe pledged loyalty to the leadership of his new party. “And so I wish everyone well and want to pledge my loyalty to our chairman, Mr. David Mark, and my party,” he said.
