According to a report by Daily Independent, on Saturday, February 7, 2026, the minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has asserted that the Renewed Hope Ambassadors in Rivers State possess the necessary influence and capacity to spearhead the re-election campaign for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The minister emphasised that the group’s substantial numbers and strategic placement within the political landscape make them a formidable force capable of driving the president’s 2027 ambitions without external gubernatorial assistance.
The former governor of Rivers State pointed out that because of their significant numerical presence and widespread reach, the group does not require the intervention of any state governor to successfully advocate for the president.
He highlighted that the membership of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors includes a diverse and powerful array of political actors, ranging from representatives in the National Assembly to members of the state House of Assembly.
Furthermore, he noted that their influence extends deep into the grassroots, encompassing local government chairmen and the leadership of both the People’s Democratic Party and the All Progressives Congress.
During an event marking the inauguration of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors Radio Station at their Port Harcourt headquarters on Saturday, the FCT minister remarked that the collective has already begun organising itself with a firm dedication to the cause.
He revealed that members have expressed a strong commitment to contributing personal resources and financial donations to ensure the success of the president’s bid for a second term.
The FCT minister said, “We don’t need a governor to mobilise for President Tinubu. We have what it takes to be on our own.”
Expanding on this stance, Wike suggested that the synergy between the various political stakeholders involved spanning across party lines and legislative levels provides a self-sustaining momentum for the campaign.
By bringing together influential figures from both the APC and the PDP, the group represents a unique cross-party coalition dedicated to the president’s vision.
Wike underscored that the grassroots network, particularly the involvement of local government and party chairmen, ensures that the message of the Renewed Hope agenda permeates every corner of the state.
This bottom-up approach, fuelled by the voluntary commitments and financial pledges of the ambassadors, signifies a departure from traditional reliance on state executive machinery, positioning the group as an independent and powerhouse movement ready for the 2027 electoral cycle.
