Jonathan Vatsa has stated that President Bola Tinubu restored hope and cleaned the family’s tears by granting presidential pardon to the late General Mamman Jiya Vatsa. Jonathan, a former commissioner for information and APC chieftain, emphasized that the president’s decision brought joy back to the family and their community.
Speaking on Channels Television, Jonathan expressed profound gratitude to President Tinubu for examining the case on its merits after 39 years. He stated that celebrations broke out everywhere following the announcement, with the village community rejoicing alongside family members who had carried this burden for nearly four decades.
Jonathan Vatsa said: “Permit me to use this medium to again once again say to Mr. President a very big thank you. We really appreciate him. He has cleaned our tears. He has restored joy back to us as a family. The community back home in the village, they are all happy. Everybody everywhere is celebrating. We’ve been crying out, making complaints right from 1999 during Obasanjo when the wife was alive. Myself, the wife and the children, we went to the Villa, we went with the letter and he promised us he was going to look into it. That regime came and gone and the subsequent regime, even the last one before Tinubu, we wrote a letter to late Buhari telling him there is injustice done. We want him to revisit this case for us.
