As the situation in Iran deteriorates, Iranian-American journalist Karmel Melamed reports that the United States may be positioning military assets in the region, with aircraft carriers believed to be heading toward the Persian Gulf.
Speaking on CBN, Melamed addressed what might happen next in Iran, stating: “I believe there are a couple of aircraft carriers that are on their way to the Persian Gulf.” This potential military positioning comes as protesters inside Iran anxiously await international assistance.
According to Melamed’s contacts inside Iran, the Iranian people are “looking to the skies” and waiting to see what America will do. They are specifically watching to see how President Trump will follow through on his promise to help them. “Help’s on the way,” was the message conveyed, but protesters are now waiting for concrete action.
The protests that erupted between January 8th and 11th have been effectively quashed through extreme violence. Melamed explained that people are frightened and not coming out to demonstrate anymore. “They’re not going to come out until there’s going to be some kind of force to put down the IRGC and the regime’s thugs,” he stated.
The brutal crackdown has included the killing of hundreds, perhaps thousands, with reports of chemical weapons being used against protesters. Many wounded individuals refused hospital treatment, fearing arrest or execution, resulting in deaths from untreated injuries. The regime has been digging mass graves and holding bodies for ransom while demanding families pay for bullets and sign false documents.
However, there have been glimmers of hope. On Sunday, January 18th, Iranian state television was mysteriously hacked, and a brief video message from Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi was broadcast. While it’s unclear who conducted the hack, such actions send messages of hope to Iranians.
Melamed emphasized that despite the heartbreak and loss of family members, the Iranian people remain committed to their cause for the long haul and won’t give up until Iran is liberated.
