Trump Assures Israel Won’t Strike Qatar Again, Says Netanyahu Will Keep Hunting Down Hamas Leaders

According to a Tuesday 16 of September, 2025, report by Anadolu English, President Donald Trump of the United States (US) has stated that Israel would not carry out additional strikes in Qatar, following last week’s missile attacks on the capital, Doha — actions that Israel claimed targeted senior Hamas officials.

“Well, he won’t be hitting in Qatar,” Trump said, referring to Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, during a press briefing in the Oval Office. He added, “Qatar has been a very good ally, and a lot of people don’t know that, but he won’t be hitting Qatar. He will be maybe going after them.”

The president’s remarks, though ambiguous, suggested that, while Israel would cease direct attacks on Qatari soil, Netanyahu might still pursue Hamas-linked individuals in the region.

Trump also dismissed reports from Axios that Netanyahu had personally informed him ahead of the airstrikes on Doha which took place the previous Tuesday.

“No, they didn’t,” Trump said. When pressed on how he became aware of the strikes, he replied, “the same way you did.”

According to a statement from the White House, the U.S. military notified the administration only after the Israeli missiles were already in the air, asserting that Trump was given no prior opportunity to intervene or raise objections.

The strikes have sparked significant backlash across the Middle East. On Monday, leaders gathered for an emergency Arab-Islamic summit in Doha, where they strongly condemned Israel’s actions.

In its final communiqué, published by Qatar’s state news agency QNA, the summit declared that the Israeli attacks “undermine any chances of achieving peace in the region.” The statement also expressed unwavering support for Qatar, and called for unified regional resistance to what it described as Israeli efforts to “impose a new reality in the region.”

The declaration further warned that such actions posed a “direct threat to regional and international security,” underscoring the urgency of collective diplomatic and political measures to prevent escalation.

As tensions simmer, the international community watches closely for signs of either de-escalation or a broader regional confrontation.
