A heated media confrontation intensified on Monday as Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser to the President on Policy Communication, publicly challenged Arise TV anchor Rufai Oseni to a live interview. The remarks were shared on Bwala’s official X handle on December 8, 2025, escalating an already tense relationship between the presidential aide and the broadcaster. Bwala, a well-known lawyer and political commentator, dismissed Oseni’s earlier jab, describing it as provocative. “My attention was drawn to a jibe by an adult toddler, @ruffydfire, saying I went to their station when he was not around,” he wrote.
He continued with a pointed dig at Oseni’s recent absence from screens, he said: “First of all, I want to congratulate you for showing off a meta glass you bought or DEM dash you during your break or alleged suspension.” Providing context for his appearance on Arise TV, Bwala stated that he had been conducting a widespread media engagement. He continued: “Secondly, I was in Lagos for a media tour with all TV stations and other platforms. During this period, you have been in Lagos (maybe your alleged suspension included prohibition from traveling out of Lagos), and your producer could have recalled you from alleged suspension to attend my interview.”
He went on to defend Arise TV co-anchor Reuben Abati: “Thirdly, to suggest that you could have done something better is actually an insult, not to me, but to @abati1990, who is better and more experienced than you.” Bwala also criticized another anchor on the programme: “As for the clown @ayomairoese, she had the time but couldn’t do anything because I shut down her fake news narrative. But here is a challenge to you, Rufai: you have a studio in Abuja, fly in, and let’s borrow Prime Time from Charles and do the interview, man to man. I challenge the chairman to make that happen. I am waiting, fast, fast, fast!”
