In a recent statement via his official X account, a United States Congressman, Riley M. Moore, has raised concerns about the Nigerian government’s handling of insecurity affecting Christian communities while reacting to recent legislative actions in Washington.
”The Tinubu Administration is spending millions lobbying Congress while failing to adequately address the genocide Nigerian Christians face daily. @HouseAppropsGOP just passed our annual State Department funding bill which takes serious steps to address this crisis,” he wrote.
In his post, Moore criticized the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, he suggested that the government is spending significant resources on international lobbying instead of dealing with violence at home and expressed worry that many Nigerian Christians continue to face deadly attacks without enough protection or intervention from authorities.
The lawmaker linked his concerns to ongoing discussions in the United States Congress, he pointed to the passage of a new funding bill by the House Appropriations Committee, according to him, the bill includes measures that aim to address global security challenges, including religious persecution.
Moore explained that the legislation focuses on funding the United States Department of State and other related programs, he said these efforts are meant to strengthen America’s response to international crises and added that the issue of violence in Nigeria deserves urgent global attention.
