According to a report by the Punch News on Monday, October 13, 2025, a resident who was present at the scene of the incident where a Nigerian man, Chimezie, was shot dead at a bar by gunmen in the Durban area, SA, revealed that both Chimezie and the gunmen had barely spoken for a minute when one gunman shot Chimezie multiple times.
While narrating the incident, the resident recounted that Chimezie had just started his shift at the bar when two men approached him. Without warning, one of them opened fire, shooting Chimezie multiple times before fleeing the scene. The bar patrons quickly ran for safety.
The resident said, “They had barely spoken for a minute when one of them opened fire on him. He was shot multiple times, and then they ran out of the bar.”
According to reports, Chimezie had relocated from Johannesburg to Durban for work and was employed at a bar.
