Tal, I Was Proud To Be Your Wife, I Am Proud To Be Your Widow. Thank You For 22 Shared Years” Wife

According to a report by Times of Israel, on October 23, 2025, at the funeral of Tal Haimi in Kibbutz Nir Yitzhak, his wife Ela Haimi shared a heartfelt tribute to her late husband, who died defending their community during a violent attack.

Ela revealed that she had anticipated and prepared for this moment for a long time, offering a poignant reflection on their shared life and the sacrifices made.

In December 2023, after being informed by the IDF that Tal had been killed and his body held captive, Ela held a prior funeral and observed shiva, symbolically burying his damaged helmet to provide closure for their young children.

Now, with his body finally returned, she described touching him and finding comfort knowing that even his Support Company 9255 shirt had survived.

Ela spoke softly about the pain and endurance of the past two years, recounting the family’s struggles and the children Tal never met, especially their youngest son, Lotan.

She played a recording of Lotan calling “Abba,” hoping that her husband could hear the child’s voice.

“I never imagined raising a baby without you,” Ela said, “but looking at him makes things feel more bearable.”

She recounted the bravery Tal displayed on October 7 during the attack, highlighting his heroism both as a soldier and as a devoted family man.

Ela expressed deep pride in her husband’s character, saying, “Tal, I was proud to be your wife,” she says. “I am proud to be your widow. Thank you for 22 shared years.”

Closing her address, Ela acknowledged the difficult road ahead for their community and the nation, urging Israel’s leaders to work toward a safer and stronger country where families can live without fear.
