Sowore: Where Do You Expect Tinubu To Get His Ambassadors From Before, From The Vatican?

During an interview on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, activist and political commentator Omoyele Sowore shared his thoughts on the recently released ambassadorial nominees list, expressing that he was not surprised by the selections. Sowore argued that Nigerians often focus on the wrong aspects of political appointments, overlooking the broader context in which these decisions are made.

Reflecting on public reactions to the ambassadorial list, Sowore stated, “The reason why I have not spoken about the ambassadors is that Nigerians always surprise me, they never attacked the issue.” Omoyele Sowore emphasized that the controversy surrounding the nominees misses the bigger picture, which, according to him, is the source of these appointments rather than the individuals themselves.

Sowore further explained his perspective on the expectations placed on the President in making such appointments. He rhetorically asked, “Where do you expect Tinubu to get his ambassadors from before, from the Vatican?” By this, he suggested that political appointments are inherently tied to the networks, allies, and supporters available to the President, rather than being random or arbitrary choices.

Highlighting the tendency of Nigerians to focus on secondary issues, Sowore added, “So you are killing yourself, you are not asking about the guy who appointed them, you are asking about the class captains he appointed.” Here, he implied that people often concentrate their criticisms on the nominees themselves, rather than questioning the motives and decisions of those in power who select them.
