Former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani, has reacted to the reported ill-treatment and deportation of three Ghanaian citizens by Israeli authorities, urging African nations to adopt a firm stance in defending the dignity of their nationals abroad.
In a statement shared on his verified Twitter account, Sani disclosed that Ghana promptly responded to the incident by deporting three Israeli citizens. He described the action as an example of how African governments should protect the rights and honour of their people wherever they may be.
According to him, the era in which African nationals could be abused or humiliated without consequences should be considered over. He noted that global politics has shifted significantly, especially in what he called “a new world defined by Trump,” where every nation is increasingly prioritising its own interests first. In such a world, he argued, African countries must also demonstrate the willingness to confront injustices against their citizens.
Sani emphasised that reciprocal action, when justified, sends a clear diplomatic message that African states will no longer tolerate discriminatory or degrading treatment. He praised Ghana’s swift retaliation as a bold and symbolic stand that reinforces national pride and sovereignty.
