U.S. Representative Dwight Evans has strongly criticized former President Donald Trump over what he described as “dangerous escalations” toward Iran, warning that military decisions must remain under congressional authority.
Evans’ remarks come in the wake of renewed U.S.–Iran engagement in Oman, where indirect talks were recently held to address Iran’s nuclear program and ballistic missile activities.
The discussions reportedly focused on limiting uranium enrichment, curbing missile development, and outlining potential sanctions relief frameworks. While both sides signaled cautious optimism, significant disagreements remain.
Tensions were further heightened after U.S. officials reiterated support for Iranian protesters amid reports of renewed crackdowns by Tehran.
