As Washington weighs tougher action against Tehran over its violent response to ongoing protests, Nigerian political figure Adamu Garba II has weighed in on the crisis, warning that foreign pressure alone cannot determine Iran’s future if domestic unity holds.

In a post on his verified Facebook account, Garba argued that Iran has historically survived international isolation because of strategic backing from key global and regional powers.

He said Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Pakistan, China, and Russia had been “very instrumental” in supporting the Iranian government at different moments, helping it withstand sanctions and diplomatic pressure. According to him, this network of relationships has insulated Tehran from external attempts at coercion.

Garba’s intervention comes amid heightened speculation that the United States is considering military options in response to Iran’s harsh crackdown on protesters. Demonstrations have spread across multiple cities, with reports of arrests, injuries, and internet restrictions, drawing condemnation from Western capitals and human rights groups. U.S. officials have publicly warned Tehran over the treatment of civilians, while also signaling that “all options” remain under review.

However, Garba emphasized that internal cohesion is the decisive factor in any confrontation between a state and foreign powers. “When you unite from inside, no one can divide you from outside,” he wrote, suggesting that domestic solidarity can blunt the impact of sanctions, threats, or even military action. His remarks appear to challenge the idea that external pressure alone can force political change.
