Satellite Images Show All Entrances To Iran’s Isfahan Nuclear Site Buried

According to a report by The Times of Israel, satellite images reveal that all tunnel entrances to Iran’s nuclear site in Isfahan have been buried under soil, according to the Washington-based Institute for Science and International Security.

The institute, which has long monitored Iran’s nuclear facilities, stated that images captured on Sunday show two entrances now completely covered, while the third, northernmost entrance has been reinforced with “additional passive defense measures.”

The organization noted that no vehicle activity is currently observed at the entrances, indicating a significant reduction in visible operations at the site. The institute suggested that these measures appear to reflect Iranian concerns about potential strikes or raids by the United States, Israel, or both.

“Backfilling the tunnel entrances would help dampen any potential airstrike and also make ground access in a special forces raid to seize or destroy any highly enriched uranium that may be housed inside difficult,” the institute explained. It also indicated that Iran could have relocated sensitive materials into the tunnels to protect them.

The institute compared the current preparations to those observed prior to Operation Midnight Hammer, which targeted facilities at Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan. “Preparations like these were last observed in the days before Operation Midnight Hammer struck facilities at Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan,” the institute stated.

Before Israel launched a 12-day conflict with Iran in June, the Islamic Republic maintained three major nuclear sites connected to its nuclear program. The Isfahan facility, located outside the city, is primarily known for producing uranium gas, which is then fed into centrifuges for spinning and purification.

Satellite imagery from last month showed construction of new roofs at Isfahan, which the Institute for Science and International Security said appeared to be part of an effort to “recover any sort of remaining assets or rubble without letting us know what they are getting out of there.”

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump has repeatedly called on Iran to negotiate a deal regarding its nuclear program. He has warned that failure to reach an agreement could lead to American military strikes, particularly in response to Iran’s crackdown on protesters.
