Senator Shehu Sani has commended the recent high-level security meeting between a Nigerian government delegation and United States Congressman Riley Moore, describing the engagement as a necessary step toward strengthening Nigeria’s fight against terrorism and sectarian violence.
The meeting, held on Thursday, November 20, 2025, featured National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, Nigeria’s Ambassador to the United States, Bianca Ojukwu, and other senior officials. Discussions centred on Nigeria’s deteriorating security landscape, including the rise in religiously motivated attacks and killings.
Reacting in a post shared on his official X handle on Thursday, November 20, 2025, Senator Sani stated:“The meeting between the Nigerian delegation led by the NSA Nuhu Ribadu, Bianca Ojukwu and others with @RepRileyMoore over the security situation in the country is commendable. A bilateral and security cooperation founded on mutual respect between the two countries, to tackle and annihilate terrorists and secure the country and the lives of our people is a welcome development.”
The talks come amid heightened international attention on Nigeria’s security crisis, especially after Congressman Moore repeatedly raised alarms about what he previously described as a “Christian genocide” in parts of the country. Moore had also warned that the U.S. administration could take stronger actions if the Nigerian government fails to curb widespread violence. Senator Sani, however, emphasized that cooperation rooted in diplomacy and mutual respect is essential for achieving lasting solutions. He noted that Nigeria’s struggle against terrorism requires external partnership, intelligence strengthening, and accountable security reforms.
