Prince Reza Pahlavi declared on Friday that Shia Iranians must actively oppose the ruling system in Iran.
According to a report by Iran International on February 20, 2026, he stated that the authorities had committed serious crimes in the name of Shia Islam.

Pahlavi emphasized that the current regime had distorted and misused religious principles for political control, thereby harming both the people and the integrity of the faith itself.
He urged every Shia Iranian who rejects clerical domination to take a leading role in the ongoing struggle for freedom and justice.
According to Pahlavi, these individuals should stand at the forefront of efforts to dismantle the oppressive structure and restore dignity to their religious beliefs.
He insisted that Shia Iranians have the responsibility to reclaim their faith from the hands of those who exploit it to justify authoritarian rule and human rights violations.
Furthermore, Pahlavi called for strong unity among all religious communities inside Iran, including Shia, Sunni, and others who follow different beliefs.
He described the existing government as fundamentally illegitimate and argued that only through collective resistance could the nation overcome division and achieve genuine change.
By fostering solidarity across sectarian lines, Iranians could build a stronger movement capable of ending the current era of suffering and repression…. Discover More
