Reactions Trail What Atiku Abubakar Said After Omoyele Sowore Got Arrested

Social media users have taken to their official X account to react to the statement that was made by former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar after he heard that Nigerian activist, Omoyele Sowore has been arrested.

Atiku’s reaction came after Nigeria Police Force, NPF, confirmed the arrest of the human rights activist.

According to THE CABLE, the Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin said Sowore was arrested for leading protesters to restricted areas during the #FreeNnamdiKanu protest in Abuja on Monday.

The PPRO said that;

“Today, Omoyele Sowore was arrested by the Nigeria Police Force. You will ask, why was he arrested? It is very simple. The 13 people who were arrested previously all gave their statements. There was a constant in their statements”.

Reacting, Atiku Abubakar criticized the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for arresting the human rights activist. He said Omoyele Sowore and others who have been arrested should be released with immediate effect.

According to Atiku Abubakar on his official X account;

“Sowore’s arrest inside a courtroom is a new low, an open assault on democracy and a grave symbol of this administration’s contempt for the rule of law. The arrest of other peaceful protesters across the country only deepens the stain. Protest is not a crime; it is a constitutional right”.

The post has attracted several comments from social media users after it was shared online.
