There have been several reactions from the general public and particularly social media users after the former governor of Anambra State and erstwhile Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi commented on the statements from FIFA that the funds given to build a stadium was mismanaged by the Nigerian Football Federation, NFF. According to the statements which were shared on his official X handle, he pointed out that the actions of NFF was heartbreaking.
Many were left stunned after the footages of the sports facility built by the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) with funds from the Federation of International Football Federation (FIFA) went viral across various social media platforms.
The project, which was supported with $1.2m from FIFA, left many wondering at the level of impunity on display as the outcome failed to match the humongous amount released by the international football governing body.
Reacting, Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State and ADC coalition Chieftain in a recent statement which was shared on his official X handle, lamented over the actions of the Nigerian Football Federation.
According to his statements, he pointed out that their actions were heartbreaking as it was a reflection of corruption. He further pointed out that a sector which would have helped lift the spirit of Nigerians failed woefully.
The former Anambra governor, widely respected for his stance against wastage in governance, equally disclosed that the negligence of Nigerian youths as evident in the siphoning of the FIFA funds was sickening and shameful.
