Reactions Trail As Video Of Sowore On Street Of Lagos After CP Jimoh Declared Him Wanted Surfaces

A Facebook video shared by human rights activist and politician, Omoyele Sowore has shown him in Lagos shortly after the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Moshood Jimoh, declared him wanted on Monday.

In the video posted on Sowore’s verified Facebook page, the activist was seen walking through a crowd in Lagos as people gathered around him chanting his name. Supporters could be heard shouting, “Sowore, we will vow for you!” as he waved at them.

The development came hours after Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Moshood Jimoh, announced during an interview on SYMFONI TV that Sowore had been declared wanted for allegedly causing a disturbance of public peace.

“I hereby, as the Commissioner of Lagos State Police Command, declare Sowore wanted. I declare him wanted for the act of causing disturbance of public peace,” Jimoh said earlier.

Jimoh had also called on Sowore to report himself to the nearest police station, warning that he would be arrested, investigated, and prosecuted if he failed to comply.

Sowore, a former presidential candidate and publisher of Sahara Reporters, had earlier announced plans to lead a protest in Lagos over the demolition of structures in Oworonshoki.
