Onanuga Hails Kwankwaso’s Stand On Trump’s Remarks: This Is The Time For All Leaders To Unite

Bayo Onanuga, the Senior Special Adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Information and Strategy, has applauded former Kano State governor, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, for his patriotic stance regarding Donald Trump’s controversial remarks about Nigeria.

The U.S. President had recently declared Nigeria a “country of particular concern,” alleging that Christians in the nation were facing persecution — and even threatened possible military intervention if the Nigerian government failed to “protect its Christian citizens.”

Reacting to the development, Senator Kwankwaso criticized Trump’s comments, describing them as unfair and misleading. He emphasized that terrorism and insecurity in Nigeria affect people of all faiths, not just one religious group.

In his words, “President Donald Trump’s designation of Nigeria as a country of particular concern is wrong. The unfortunate attacks we face do not discriminate by religion — both Christians and Muslims suffer alike.”

The statement from the former governor drew wide attention and sparked mixed reactions across social media. However, it was Onanuga’s response that added a new layer to the discussion.

Taking to his verified X (formerly Twitter) account, Bayo Onanuga expressed gratitude to Kwankwaso for speaking up for the country, urging other leaders to set aside political rivalry and join hands in defending Nigeria’s image.

“Thank you, Senator Kwankwaso, for your patriotism. This is a time for all political leaders to unite behind our country and speak out as patriots,” Onanuga wrote.

His message has since earned praise from many Nigerians who see it as a rare moment of bipartisan unity amid growing political tension.
