In response to remarks made by former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, Hon. Ahmad Sajoh responded during a TVC News interview. Earlier, El-Rufai had accused the National Security Advisor, Nuhu Ribadu, of using security forces to attack political adversaries and meddle with the judicial system. He further alleged that someone unlawfully gained access to Ribadu’s phone and told him of a scheme to apprehend him.
Comparisons between El-Rufai and the late Northern leader Ahmadu Bello, popularly known as the Sardauna of the North, were rejected by Sajoh. Such accolades are inappropriate and may even be detrimental, claims Sajoh. He said that praising behavior that might not represent solid moral principles might lead a leader astray.
He depicted Ahmadu Bello as a man with unwavering moral values and a clear sense of purpose, implying that the current political atmosphere lacks the same ideals. Sajoh emphasized that personal disagreements between former allies should not be allowed to harm public institutions or undermine public confidence in the nation’s judicial and security systems.
He cautioned that when political figures openly trade charges, it might convey the wrong message to young people and erode respect for national institutions.
