Mene Ogidi: The Extrajudicial Actions Taken Against The Young Man Was Barbaric – Peter Obi

Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State and 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party has condemned the killing of the young man identified as Mene Ogidi by a police officer in Delta State. According to the statements which were shared on his official X, he pointed out that the actions of the police officer was barbaric and a clear violation of the rule of law.

The news regarding the brutal death of a young man identified as Mene Ogidi at the hands of a police officer in Delta State generated mixed reactions after the reports went viral across various social media platforms.

The young man, who was apprehended for an offence not ventilated to the general public, was shot at close range by a police officer identified as Nuhu Usman, and died at the spot, an act which triggered massive public outrage.

Reacting, Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State and erstwhile Labour Party presidential candidate in a recent statement which was shared on his official X handle, condemned the actions of the police officer.

According to his statements, he pointed out that the extrajudicial killing of the young man was not only barbaric, but a clear violation of the rule of law, and hence, the police officer responsible must be brought to book.

He further maintained that the society had evolved, hence, no life should be taken without due process not withstanding the crime committed.
