Keyamo Responds To Man Offering To Pay ₦25,000 Fine Over Peter Obi’s Airport Parking Incident

Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has reacted after a Nigerian offered to pay the ₦25,000 fine imposed over the airport parking incident involving Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

The offer came after Nnaemeka Ikerionwu wrote an open letter requesting the bank account details of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), expressing his willingness to personally settle the penalty on Obi’s behalf.

In his letter, Ikerionwu commended Keyamo for releasing CCTV footage of the July 4 incident at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, describing the move as transparent. He stated that his intention was to ensure FAAN received the revenue from the fine while also appealing to the minister to forgive Obi. He further advised the former Anambra State governor to avoid actions that could trigger similar controversies in the future.

Responding through his official X account, Keyamo acknowledged the offer and instructed the volunteer to visit the appropriate FAAN office to complete the payment process.

“Thank you @Onsogbu for bringing this to my attention. Please, Mr. Nnaemeka Ikerionwu should proceed to see the Director of Commercial and Business Development for the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and he will be directed on the mode of payment of the fine for the offender,” the minister wrote.

Keyamo also criticized Obi over his earlier claims that he had been unfairly targeted at Nigerian airports. He dismissed the allegations and suggested that the release of the CCTV footage had disproved the claims.

“Now that we have burst his bubble, next time, @PeterObi should think twice before making outlandish claims of being targeted at our airports or anywhere for that matter in order to get ‘sympathy votes’. Nigerians have become too politically savvy to fall for such cheap political gimmicks from presidential candidates that emerged from miracle centres,” he added.
