Peter Ameh, the General Secretary of the Coalition of United Political Parties, has claimed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the APC, Shehu Sani, and Reno Omokri are the individuals who communicated to the United States government that Christians are being targeted for genocide in Nigeria.
He argued that those currently in government once pushed this narrative publicly and consistently, long before the issue resurfaced in current U.S. discussions.
Speaking on Mic on Podcast with Seun Okinbaloye, Ameh dismissed suggestions that his political associates in America were the ones pushing the narrative to the US government. He said he has no friends in the U.S. pushing such claims.
According to Ameh, records show that Tinubu, the APC, Shehu Sani, and Reno Omokri repeatedly made statements on social media alleging Christian genocide during past administrations, and these statements were communicated to American authorities.
He maintained that the resurfacing of these “dead documents” is the reason the U.S. government is now treating the matter seriously. Ameh insisted that he has never denied any position he has taken, unlike others who shift their narratives for political convenience.
He said consistency in public statements is essential, especially during national crises. He stressed that Nigeria’s current security challenges require international cooperation because Nigerians can no longer sleep safely.
In his words, “The people pushing this narrative are people who are in government today. It is Bola Ahmed Tinubu, it is the APC, Shehu Sani, all of them who were posting on Twitter, including Reno Omokri, who are writing on Twitter, who are speaking to the U.S. government that there’s Christian (4:53) genocide in this country.”
“Go and look at it. The records are there. They can delete it. The Nigerian public knows the truth. They were the ones pushing it.
