According to an updated Anadolu English report of Thursday 25 of December 2025, Israeli forces have carried out a new series of ground incursions across villages in Syria’s southern Quneitra province, moving through several towns and temporarily stopping civilians.
The latest raids saw Israeli military units advance into multiple rural areas, establishing brief checkpoints and restricting civilian movement as patrols passed through residential zones. Residents reported heightened tension as troops moved along local roads, questioned civilians and inspected vehicles before withdrawing hours later. No official explanation was issued regarding the objectives of the operation.
These incursions come, despite repeated assertions that the Syrian government does not pose a direct military threat to Israel. Syrian officials and regional observers say that the raids form part of a broader pattern of cross-border activity that has intensified in recent months, particularly in southern Syria.
Alongside ground operations, Israel has continued to launch airstrikes deep inside Syrian territory. These attacks have targeted military installations, vehicles, weapons depots and ammunition storage sites, but they have also resulted in civilian casualties and widespread damage to infrastructure. Homes, agricultural land and public facilities have been affected in several provinces, according to Syrian state media and local monitoring groups.
Syrian government data indicates that since December 2024, Israel has conducted more than 1,000 airstrikes across the country. In the same period, Israeli forces are reported to have carried out over 400 cross-border raids into Syria’s southern provinces, including Quneitra, Daraa and parts of the Damascus countryside. The figures point to a high escalation in both the frequency and geographic scope of Israeli military actions.
Officials in Damascus have repeatedly condemned the operations as violations of Syrian sovereignty and international law, urging the United Nations and the international community to take action. They argue that the continued incursions undermine regional stability and place civilian populations at risk.
Local residents in Quneitra alleged that the recurring raids have disrupted daily life and fueled uncertainty in communities already struggling with economic hardship and the aftermath of years of conflict. Farmers report difficulty accessing their land, while families describe fears of sudden military encounters during routine travel between villages.
