Israel: Yemeni Chief Chides Absence Of Practical Action From Summit Of Arab And Islamic Leaders

According to a Sunday 21 of September, 2025, report by IRNA News Agency, in a pointed statement marking the anniversary of Yemen’s revolution, Mahdi Al-Mashat, head of the Supreme Political Council of Yemen, has condemned the outcome of a recent summit of Arab and Islamic leaders held in Qatar, expressing disappointment at what he described as a lack of decisive action.

“We expected practical action from the summit of Arab and Islamic leaders,” Al-Mashat said, criticizing the event for producing little more than a formal condemnation rather than tangible steps.

His remarks, reported by the Al-Masirah News Network, focused heavily on what he characterized as escalating aggression by the Israeli regime, particularly referencing a recent strike on Doha. Al-Mashat framed the attack as a warning not just to Qatar, but to the wider Arab world.

“The message of the Zionist regime’s aggression against Qatar was very clear to everyone,” he stated. “By attacking Doha, the Zionist regime sent this message to the rulers of Arab countries that your turn is coming too.”

In a broader critique of regional geopolitics, Al-Mashat challenged the strategic presence of the United States (U.S.) in the Middle East, suggesting that American military bases serve foreign interests rather than regional stability.

“The US bases in the region are for the defense of the Zionist enemy and not for your defense, as some people think,” he said.

Al-Mashat also warned of what he sees as a growing trend of unchecked Israeli hostility, emboldened by Western powers.

“The aggression of the Zionist enemy against Arab countries is an emphasis on its brutality and a sign that this regime is moving towards the path of free aggression anywhere with the open support of America and the West,” he added.
