According to a report by The Times Of Israel on January 24, 2026, a senior Iranian official has warned that Tehran will consider any form of military strike against it as a declaration of full-scale war, as a US aircraft carrier strike group and additional military assets are expected to arrive in the Middle East in the coming days.
The warning comes amid rising regional tensions and increased US military movements, which Iranian officials are closely monitoring. Speaking anonymously, the senior official said Iran hopes the current military deployment is not meant to provoke a direct confrontation, but stressed that the country’s armed forces are preparing for all possibilities.
“This military buildup — we hope it is not intended for real confrontation – but our military is ready for the worst-case scenario. This is why everything is on high alert in Iran,” the official says.
According to the official, Iranian defense and security institutions have raised their readiness levels, citing concerns that even a limited or targeted strike could quickly escalate into a broader conflict. Tehran, the official added, will no longer distinguish between different types of military actions if attacked.
“This time we will treat any attack — limited, unlimited, surgical, kinetic, whatever they call it — as an all-out war against us, and we will respond in the hardest way possible to settle this,” the official says.
US officials have said the deployment of naval and air assets is intended to protect American interests and allies in the Middle East and to deter potential threats. However, Iranian officials argue that such moves heighten the risk of miscalculation and could trigger a dangerous escalation.
