Amidst the ongoing face-off between the American Government under the leadership of President Donald Trump, and the Colombian Government, Colombian President Gustavo Petro, accused the American Government of waging a war against the poor, and drawing a stunning parallel between Israeli actions in Gaza and the experiments of Adolf Hitler.
According to a report by Anadolu English on Wednesday 24 September, 2025, the President of Columbia, Gustavo Petro, while addressing the United Nations General Assembly in New York, the United States of America, framed President Donald Trump’s immigration policies as a tool for racial segregation, asserting that such policies were not about border security, but served a darker purpose which were to create a rich, white and racist society built on the concept of a superior race.
He also argued that the decades-long US-led war on drugs had never truly been about eliminating narcotics, but was instead a calculated strategy to exert control, and violence over the poorest countries in the global south, citing a recent American military strike in the Caribbean that claimed seventeen lives, suggesting that Colombians might have been among the dead.
In his words, President Gustavo Petro said, “Innocent young people are being murdered with missiles ordered by a President of the United States. It’s not a war against drug traffickers, but a war against the poor of the south. The US anti-drug policy, along with the genocide in Gaza and anti-migration policies, are all connected. Some of Trump’s political advisors are, in fact, allies of the cocaine mafia. I am a president decertified by a foreign government. What international right can a president of another country ignore a representative elected by his country?”
Regarding the ongoing offensive military campaign of the administration of the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu in Gaza that resulted in the death of tens of thousands of innocent civilians, President Gustavo Petro, stated that what Netanyahu’s Government was doing in Gaza was an experiment like Hitler’s, when he began to test gas chambers and concentration camps.
He also called on the United Nations that they should move beyond rhetoric, and form an armed peace force to intervene and stop the violence, challenging the institution’s fundamental effectiveness. See, More, Here>>>>
