According to a recent video by Brekete Family on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, a widow, Alladi Simon, narrated how her late husband’s elder brother demanded his ATM card immediately after his death.
In an interview with the Brekete Family, Alladi Simon, from Benue State, said her husband, a Superintendent of Police attached to the Special Protection Unit of the FCT Command, died on October 1, 2016.
She alleged that her husband’s elder brother, Francis Zako, a customs officer, demanded the ATM card at about 4 a.m. the day after his death and withdrew the entire balance of about ₦1.5 million, leaving her with nothing.
She also accused her in-laws of selling her late husband’s land and frustrating her efforts to obtain a letter of administration.
Her words: “ Immediately after my husband died, we deposited his body in the mortuary. His family then asked me to come and explain what had happened to their brother.
We went to their family home. We arrived at about 8 p.m., and the following morning, October 2, at about 4 a.m., my husband’s elder brother, Francis, came to the room where my mother, my elder sister and I were sleeping.
He knocked on the door. When I asked who was there, he identified himself. After we opened the door, he demanded my husband’s ATM card.
I refused to understand why he wanted the card because my husband had told me that I should use the money in his account to pay our children’s school fees and support them after his death.”
