According to a report by The Sun on Sunday, March 1, 2026, the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, has publicly denied allegations of sexual harassment made against him, describing the claims as unfounded and maintaining that his public service record remains intact.
The allegation was raised by Tracyniter Nicholas Ohiri, who also accused the former Governor of Ebonyi State of failing to pay her over a campaign-related transaction. Ohiri was subsequently arraigned before a magistrate court in Wuse Zone 2, Abuja, on a defamation charge. She pleaded not guilty and was granted bail in the sum of ₦1 million with two sureties.
In a video statement reacting to the development, Umahi expressed appreciation to those who have supported him. “I want to thank a lot of you people who know me very well. As party chairman, I owed nobody,” he said. “Of course, I presided over both men and women, and nobody has ever said I harassed them. Deputy governor, the same, governor for eight years, and I did fantastic in infrastructure, so nobody could come and say… unless the person is being very mischievous,” he added.
The minister stated that he was not disturbed by reactions circulating on social media platforms. “So, what you saw on social media, I’m not worried about it. It only makes me stronger, and I have fought many battles, so this is nothing,” he said.
Umahi also referenced Kogi Central senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, while addressing the allegation. “There’s nothing wrong to say, uh, you are chasing a woman. But if it is Natasha that is accusing me of chasing her, then my face will be bolder but not any how person. That will accuse this handsome man of chasing her for 12 years.
