If Iran Sinks US Aircraft Carrier, It’s World War III — Former CIA Officer Warns Iran Strike on U.S.

As nuclear negotiations between the United States and Iran continue in 2026, former Central Intelligence Agency officer John Kiriakou has issued a stark warning: if Iran sinks a U.S. aircraft carrier, “it is World War III.”

Speaking in an interview with RT alongside Alex Jones, Kiriakou argued that such an attack would cross an irreversible red line. According to him, the political and military pressure on Washington to respond with overwhelming force would be immediate, leaving little room for restraint or diplomacy.

Kiriakou suggested that the current U.S. deployment of carrier strike groups within range of Iranian missile systems creates a volatile dynamic. He warned that positioning high-value naval assets so close to a regional adversary increases the risk of miscalculation, particularly at a time when tensions over Iran’s nuclear program remain unresolved.

His comments come as U.S. and Iranian negotiators are engaged in renewed discussions aimed at limiting Tehran’s nuclear activities in exchange for sanctions relief. While diplomats describe the talks as serious, deep disagreements persist over uranium enrichment levels, verification mechanisms, and guarantees regarding sanctions removal.

Kiriakou drew parallels to the Attack on Pearl Harbor, suggesting that a sudden, high-casualty strike on a U.S. carrier could unify American public opinion behind a massive retaliatory campaign — potentially expanding into a broader regional war involving allied and rival powers.

U.S. officials maintain that their military posture is defensive and intended to deter aggression. Iranian leaders, meanwhile, insist their missile capabilities are meant for national defense and warn that foreign military assets in the region would be legitimate targets in a conflict scenario….See More
