The National President of the South-South Youths Initiative, Comrade Oscar, has spoken out on reports that brand-new Sports Utility Vehicles (SUVs) were recently purchased for members of the Rivers State House of Assembly.

Speaking during an interview with Silverbird Television, Oscar said he personally saw the new SUVs and was told they were given to the 27 Assembly members who were reinstated after the end of the emergency rule in the state.

“I actually saw a good number of newly bought SUVs. I was reliably informed that those SUVs belong to the 27 Assembly members; that’s what I was told, though. Oscar further said it was unlikely that Governor Siminalayi Fubara was behind the purchase, because at the time the cars were reportedly bought, he had no access to Rivers State funds.

He pointed out that the situation raises questions since the Supreme Court had earlier restricted the use of Rivers State resources.
